Before making any step-by-step testing make sure that all automatic execution settings are Off in Options -> Settings. Otherwise the program tries to automatically start different services at a few seconds interval, which is confusing, when trying to manually configure and test individual functions. In other words, make sure that the settings are like shown in Figure 1, press the soft key Back and restart the Aspicore GSM Tracker application before making any other troubleshooting or testing.
Test each service (the three icons in the Aspicore GSM Tracker state view) individually one by one before trying to activate them simultaneously.
This page shows how you can confirm that your GPRS access point is working with Aspicore GPS Tracker. A test is sent to Aspicore's test server and the result is seen on the test web site.
Configure the Internet access point. (Instructions) Make sure that the phone is not connected to the Internet via a PC. (The possibly installed PC Suite mRouter or similar PC connectivity link is disconnected).
Start Aspicore GSM Tracker application by clicking the application icon in your phone's graphical menu. |
(Make sure that the On startup GPRS setting is Off in Options -> Settings.) |
Select Options -> GPRS data -> Connect GPRS |
Enter the IP address and port number of the logging database
server.
You can use Aspicore's test server for testing. Aspicore's IP address and port number are shown in Figure 3. |
Select access point dialog should appear. Select the connection name you chose when configuring the Internet access point. |
Press the scroll key on the right to activate the Log tab. The bottom line
of the log should say "Connected GPRS". Also a small letter G inside a rectangle should appear instead of the antenna symbol in the top left corner of the screen. This shows that there is an active GPRS connection. |
Select Options -> GPRS data -> Send GPRS test msg.
A note dialog with text Test msg sent should appear for a short period.
The final step is easiest to do with a PC, which is connected to the
Internet. Open a web browser with address You need to submit your IMEI code and click Send button on the web page to see the data collected from your phone. The resulting web page shows the test messages received by Aspicore's test server from your phone. If there is a message with a suitable time stamp, your GPRS connection is working properly! If your test message does not reach the test server and you know your GPRS connection is working, one possible reason is that your operator has got a NAT gateway, which filters out UDP datagrams to the IP address and port Aspicore's test server is using. You may want to try sending the test message over a dial-up connection (CSD, circuit switched data) or via another operator. If it works, the cause probably is a NAT gateway at your operator! |
